Mary Elsie Jeffrey, age 89, of Webberville, passed away Wednesday May 9, 2012. She was born on October 24, 1922 to Otis and Della (Tyler) Gould in Woodhull Twp., Shiawassee County. She married Lester D. Jeffrey and he preceded her in death on January 22, 1966. She loved her grandchildren and great-grandchildren dearly. Surviving are her daughter: Darlene Crouch of Atlanta, Mi., 2 Sons: Milo (Marcie) of Perry and Ed (Kathy) of Perry, 9 Grandchildren and many Great-Grandchildren. She was preceded in death by 5 brothers and sisters. Services Saturday, May 12 at 1 PM at Niblack Funeral Home, Dillingham Liverance Chapel with Pastor Thomas Tarpley officiating. Marie O’Connor age 80 of webberville, passed away Tuesday May 8, 2012. She was born on September 18, 1931 to Lawrence and Therese (Korte) Zimba in Dearborn,Michigan. She married William O’Connor on September 6, 1952. She was an active member of St. Agnes Catholic Church, She worked at Lansing General Hospital as an LPN. Surviving are her husband: William, daughter: Anna (David) Callahan of Coldwater ,3 Sons: William II (Doris) of Williamston, David (Barbara) of Webberville, Tim (Denise) of Webberville. Velma G. Bator, age 88 of Fowlerville died Tuesday April 24, 2012 at her daughter’s home. Born Aug. 18, 1923 in St. Louis, MI to John & Ida (Giesken) Lehmkuhle, she married Arthur Bator in 1968 after her 1st husband, Robert Bonner died in 1957. Arthur preceded her in death in 1984. Velma was an avid musician, playing the piano and the organ at church for 50 years. She was a member of St. Agnes Catholic Church. Surviving are 9 children: Barbara Bussolini ,Deborah Bonner, Arthur M. Bator, Susan Berman, Maureen Furgala, Martha Cesarz, Mary McClaine, Thomas Bator and Barbara Bator; 17 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren; sister: Irma Hedgepeth and brother: Joseph Lehmkuhle. Joann H. Smail, age 79, of Fowlerville, died, Sat. April 21, 2012, peacefully at her home with her daughter and 3 grandchildren : Andrew Stedman, Jonathan Stedman and Jessica Stedman at her side. She was born June 17, 1932 in Marion, Ill. To Lee & Namathe (Goddard) Halbin and married Ira Jack Smail, who preceded her in death in 2003. Surviving are her daughter: Julie Ince, 6 grandchildren and 1 great-grandchild, 2 sisters: Lottie Smail and Sue Clarida and brother Jerry Halbin. Gordon Elia Derian, age 45 of Fowlerville, died on Friday, April 20, 2012 . He was born Dec. 5, 1966 in Detroit to Daniel Derian and Carolyn (Scott). He was a carpenter. He is survived by his father: Daniel Derian of Fowlerville, mother: Carolyn (Dan) Freyaldenhoven of Fowlerville, siblings: Terry Grant Derian, Catherine Ann Rychel and Alexander Derian, many nieces and nephews, aunts, uncles & cousins.
Muriel E. Epley, age 96, of Howell, died Sat. April 21, 2012. She was born Aug. 31, 1915 in Durand to Jesse A. & Violet S. (Becker) Bugard. She worked at Goodnow’s store in Howell, retiring in 1970 after 20 years of employment. She was a Past Matron of the Order of Eastern Star #277, Fowlerville and #372 in Howell. Surviving are 2 daughters: Carol (George) Bessert of Howell and Marian (Bruce) Russell of Fowlerville, step-daughter: Vickie (Arnold) Luttrell of Fowlerville, 12 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren and many great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her 1st husband: John Joys in 1982 and 2nd husband: Victor Epley in 2008 and 3 brothers: Harold, William and Jesse Jr. and sister: Shirley Caskey. Mabel Lee Nutter age 95 of Fowlerville, passed away Friday April 20, 2012. She was born on April 8, 1917 to Okey Otis and Lorena Maude (Wise) Sommerville in Buffalo Creek, West Virginia. She married Lorenzo “Red” Nutter in Clarksburg, West Virginia and preceded her in death on September 30, 1978. She was an active member of Fowlerville United Brethren in Christ Church, she loved gospel music, loved to garden, her flowers were special and was an excellent cook. She loved her grandchildren and great-grandchildren dearly.
Eleanor Novinski age 76, of Fowlerville, died at home Wed. April 18, 2012. She was born July 2, 1935 in Detroit, Michigan to Thomas and Bernice (Kendra) Sowa. She married Walter Novinski on August 9, 1958. She was a member of St. Agnes Catholic Church, loved to cook and was also an avid gardener. Surviving are her husband Walter, of Fowlerville, 2 daughters, Sandra (Robert) Lasky of Howell, Helen Pezzullo of Fowlerville, 3 sons; David Novinski of Virginia, Glen and Jeff Novinski of Fowlerville; 5 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren; 2 brothers, Stanley and Benny sowa of Detroit; 1 sister, Mary Kanski of Detroit. Doris M. Linman, age 92, of Fowlerville, died Wed. April 11, 2012. She was born February 15, 1920 at the family farm on Sharpe Rd to William & Jennie A.(Peterson) Sharpe and was a 1938 graduate of Fowlerville High School and a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church and Delta Kappa Gama. Doris was a teacher in Webberville and Howell. She married Andrew J. Linman Jr., who preceded her in death on Dec. 24, 1988. Surviving are her children: Robert (Jill) Linman of Lansing and Janice (John) Gasidlo of Milan, 4 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren and her sister: Ruth Purslow. Victor Deichert, age 73 of Fowlerville, died at home Wed. April 11, 2012. He was born Nov. 10, 1938 in Bismark, North Dakota to Antone & Amelia (Schwalik) Deichert and married Diann C. (Lashbrook) in Farmington on Feb. 4, 1968. He was a Livonia Fire Fighter for 32 years, retiring in 1991. Vic was an active member of Prince of Peace Lutheran Church, a great Grandpa and father, the “Old Maid” Champion, he loved woodworking and the outdoors, but was a terrible fisherman. Surviving are his wife Diann, 3 daughters: Laura Walker of Southfield, Sandy Deichert of Fowlerville and Tracy (Mike) Peckens of Fowlerville, Grandchildren:Rane, Daniel (Karla), Laurane, Lauren, Ryan (Chastity), Erin, Garrett, Logan, Rachael and Mikenna, 4 Great-Grandchildren (+one on the way): Xane, Lexi, Tristan & Rylee, late brother of Amelia “Gubby (Pat) McDaniels. Justin S. Sheldon, age 23, of Fowlerville, died Tuesday April 10, 2012. He was born Sept. 26, 1988 in Henrico, Virginia to Steven & Kathy (Miller) Sheldon. He was a 2006 graduate of Fowlerville High School and was a member of St. Agnes Catholic Church. Surviving are his daughter: Kali and her mother: Jessie Miller, parents: Steven & Kathy, Sister: Heather, Grandmothers: Theresa Duncan and Mary Miller. He was preceded in death by his Grandfathers. Orval W. Poch, age 90, of Howell, went to be with the Lord on Mon. April 9, 2012. He was born March 10, 1922 in Detroit to Walter & Anna (Bradow) Poch and married Frances L. (Kozin), who preceded him in death on Dec. 3, 2008. Orval was a Corporal in the US Marine Corps, serving in the South & Central Pacific during WWII and worked for 33 years at Artistic Furniture and Refrigeration Research in Brighton. Surviving are 2 daughters: Cindy Lewis and Cheryl Poch, son: Timothy (Patti) Poch, 4 grandchildren: JJ Lewis, Michele (Brandon) Wilkes, Aaron Poch and Amanda Poch,2 great-grandchildren: Summer Frances and Tristan Robert, 2 sisters: Gloria Reynolds and Audrey Dunn. He was preceded in death by his wife: Frances and sister: Linda Kline and brother Walter Poch. Lenore C. Dryer, age 69, of Lansing, died Sat. April 7, 2012 in Lansing. She was born July 30, 1942 in Detroit to John & Lucie (Carusi) Koch and married Gordon Dryer on Oct. 29, 1961 at St. Johns Lutheran Church. She was a 1960 graduate of Fowlerville High School and was “Miss Fowlerville” in 1960. Lenore worked for the USDA Rural Housing Authority. Surviving are her husband: Gordon, 2 daughters: Melony (Lewis) Adams of Beulah, Diane Dryer of Traverse City, 3 grandchildren: Chelsea, Caleb and Hunter, 2 step-grandchildren: Neena & Wy, and 2 great-grandchildren: Aleia and Eliza, 3 sisters: Rosemary (Robert) Ackerman of Webberville, Judy (William) Loose of Howell, Christine (Albert) Decroix of Gregory and brother: Fred (Renee) Koch of Fowlerville, and several aunts & uncles and cousins. Dale E. Lynn, age 73, of Freehold, NJ, died at home Friday April 6, 2012. He was born Jan. 3, 1939 in Detroit to Robert E. & Vera Fay (Rhodes) Lynn and was a 1956 graduate of Fowlerville High School. He married Ella “Betsie” Merry and she survives. He retired from Bell Labs and then he enjoyed being Director of Briar Hill School in Freehold which he and Betsie founded. Surviving are his wife: Ella “Betsie”, sons: Mark (Maiya)and Scott (Kendra),6 grandchildren:Micah, Ethan,Caleb, Noah, Meredith & Kelsey, 2 brothers: Ralph (Janet) of Ionia, Roy (Debbie) of Fowlerville, 2 sisters: Joyce (Jerry) Scepka of Perry and Donna (Paul) Bauby of Fowlerville, many nieces and nephews. He married Roseable, who preceded him in death in 1996. He worked for Burroughs Corp and Dyna Power. Eleanor E. Heinrich, age 77, of Webberville, died Thurs. April 5, 2012. She was born Aug. 26, 1934 in Mason to Elmer & Edna (Ratzloff) Brown and married Edward “Mike” Heinrich at St. James Catholic Church in Mason on Aug. 31, 1963. Mike preceded her in death on May 15, 2010. Eleanor was a 1953 graduate of Mason High School and a member of St. Agnes Catholic Church. Surviving are her sister: Doris Weber of Mason, nephew: Bobby Weber of Georgia, cousin: Marilyn Ramont of Dimondale and special friends: Mike & Barb Stock of Fowlerville. Esther H. Freeman, age 86, of Northville, died Mon. April 2, 2012. She was born March 9, 1926 and married Marshall Freeman, who preceded her in death. James Edward Alexander, age 75 of Howell, died on Friday, March 30 . He was born October 6, 1936 in Alabama. He owned LePaul gas station and also retired from Uniboring. He was a member of Hidden Springs Church, like to play bingo, go to flea markets,and participated as a special Olympics team member from Medilodge. Rick William Masten Sr. ,age 62,of Howell, died on March 29, 2012. He was born August 5, 1949 in Detroit, Michigan to the parents of William and June (Bailey) Masten . He served in the army during the Vietnam War. He enjoyed wood working, camping, bird watching, skiing and traveling.
Elgeva Y. Kelly, age 85, a lifelong resident of Livingston County , passed away peacefully surrounded by family and friends in her home, Monday, March 26, 2012 . Robert C. Frankowiak, age 77, of Howell, died Sun. March 18, 2012. He was born Nov. 14, 1934 in Hamtramck to Benedict and Janet (Smiecinski) Frankowiak and married Regina (Misko) on June 12, 1953. He was a member of St. Agnes Catholic Church, St. Sebastians in Dearborn Heights, St. Rose in Perrysburg, Ohio and St. Stephens in New Boston. Bob worked for Frito Lay and also delivered bread and baked goods for over 20 years. Surviving are his wife: Regina, daughter: Debbie (Maurizio) Adami, 3 grandchildren: Amy (Aaron) Aumock, Robert C. (Brittani) Frankowiak III and Andrew W. (Kelly) Frankowiak, daughter-in-law: Karen Frankowiak and 2 great-grandchildren on the way. He was preceded in death by his son: Dr. Robert C. Thomas F. Butler, age 78, of Gregory, died Sat. March 17th 2012 at home. He was born June 7, 1933 in a farmhouse 1 mile down the road to John (Jack) and Daisie (Roberts) Butler. He married Norma Evers on May 31, 1958. She preceded him in death on July 23, 2009. Tom was a 1951 Fowlerville High school graduate, a life long farmer, a member of Plainfield United Methodist Church and the National Farmer’s Organization. Adeline C. Palmerton, age 89, of Fowlerville, died Friday March 16, 2012. She was born Nov. 28, 1922 in Highland Park to Michael & Elisa (Sachetti) Ferrante and married Hugh O. Palmerton on Oct. 8, 1941 in Angola, Indiana, he preceded her in death on March 21, 2010. She was a beautician and retired from D & H Farms. Adeline liked to paint and crochet and cook, especially Sunday dinners and she and Hugh liked to travel after they retired. Surviving are 4 children: Claude, Francis (Patricia) both of Fowlerville, Nancy (Michael) Hartman of Alabama and Mary Lou Prestonise of Byron, 7 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren, 2 sisters: Anna Dietrich and Dorothy Burton, brother: Anthony Ferrante and sister-in-law: Myrna Harlacher . She was preceded in death by 2 sisters and 1 brother. Kenneth A. Tannar, age 92 of Webberville, died Tuesday March 13, 2012. He was born March 24, 1919, Spring Arbor, Michigan to Orville & Edna Tannar. He married Mary Ellen VanWinkle on February 12, 1944 and she preceded him in death on Jan.9, 2012. Ken was co-owner of Smith & Tannar grain elevators in Fowlerville and Webberville, a real estate appraiser and head of marketing for the Dept. of Agriculture with the State of Michigan, was a member of Fowlerville First United Methodist Church, charter member of Fowlerville Rotary Club, where he was twice awarded a Paul Harris Fellowship Award, played trombone with the Senior Class Band and loved his Grandchildren. He had been an Eagle Scout and was a Boy Scout Leader. Ken served in the US Army band from 1941 to 1945. Surviving are his Son: Tom (Barbara) Tannar of Fowlerville, 3 Grandchildren: Steve, Gregg (Suzanne) and Amanda and Great Grandchildren: Mason, Charles, Griffin and Luke. He was preceded in death by his sister: Marion Roche. Visitation will be held on Monday, March 19 from2:30-4:30 and 6-8 PM at Niblack Funeral Home, Dillingham Liverance Chapel. Terry loved her grandbabies, her dogs and had a heart of gold, she was good at crafts and was a good cook. He worked as a mechanic, loved the outdoors, history, cooking his work and his loyal beagle, Sam. He was the favorite uncle to his nieces and nephews. He was a butcher, farrier and “jack of all trades”. Buddy enjoyed tractor pulling, RC cars and loved horses, his guns and hunting. Buddy was a loving father and never met a stranger. Bruce E. BeVier Sr., age 83, of Fowlerville passed at home on Feb. 11, 2012. He was born July 23, 1928 in Meridian Twp. to George J. and Florence E. (Grant) BeVier. He married Marion E. Elwood E. “Bud” Cole, age 85, of Fowlerville, died Sun. Jan. 22, 2012. He was born December 26,1926 in Fowlerville to Rollin and Mildred (Hoffman) Cole. He was a 1944 graduate of Fowlerville High School. He married Norma M. Bessert on June 26, 1948. Bud was a dairy and crop farmer for his entire adult life. One of his greatest joys was the family farm north of Fowlerville where he moved as a boy and was able to remain for 75 years. He also worked as a tool & die machinist and for the Livingston County Road Commission. Bud was a member of St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church and Farm Bureau Club. Bud loved to play cards, travel and spend time with family and friends and dance with the sweetheart of his life, Norma. He will be remembered as a kind, soft spoken man, loving husband, father, grandfather, friend and neighbor. Died December 16, 2011Spent first 5 years of his life in Farmington, MI. Moved to the Esch Farm in March 1956, where he spent his life as a dairy farmer. Survived by wife of 37 years, Elaine (Schlicklin) Esch; daughters, Jenifer L. Esch and Kimberly E. Esch; sons, Daniel E. (Kristine) Esch, Jonathan H. (Rachael Jorgensen) Esch, and Branden L. He spent many years involved in the Fowlerville community and the farm community, including Fowlerville Fair Board, Fowlerville Feed Cooperative and Michigan Milk Producers Assn. Bob loved farming and was a model of integrity and work ethic. One of many of his accomplishments, we fondly remember the star Bob built and affixed to the top of the silo on the farm in 1968. A genuine man with a twinkle in his eye, Bob’s kindred spirit and charming personality were infectious and will be missed far and wide. Rita L. Crofoot, age 80, of Fowlerville, died Friday Dec. 9, 2011. She was born August 24, 1931 to Eli St. Charles and Clara Rushlow. She married George Crofoot 60 years ago on June 27, 1951. She had been baptized at Fowlerville 1st Baptist Church and in later years attended Fowlerville United Brethren in Christ Church, she was a member of the Fowlerville Senior Center. Rita had worked in the cafeteria at Fowlerville Schools and liked to collect bells. Shirley R. Lutz, age of 86, of Fowlerville, passed away Sunday Nov. 20, 2011. She was born Feb. 22, 1925 in Belleville to Orville L. and Lora (Ford) Dingman. Shirley married Douglas Lutz on June 15, 1947 at the Methodist Church in Fowlerville, he preceded her in death in 2007. Michael D. Cain, age 59, of Linden, went home to heaven on Wed. Sept. 7, 2011 following an extended illness. He was born May 29, 1952 in Brighton to Charles J & Virginia F (Crabtree) Cain. He was a 1972 graduate of Fowlerville High School. Michael was a lifelong resident of Livingston County. Mike was employed at Bent Tube for 29 years and then at Home Depot in Howell for 4 years. Mike enjoyed daily reading his bible, fishing and music. He had handwritten over 2000 songs and indexed and filed them.

Mr. Leslie K. Graham, age 88, of Williamston, died Thurs. Sept. 1, 2011 at home. He was born Oct. 30, 1922 on the family farm in rural Bell Oak, Locke Twp., the 4th child of 8 children of Max & Lillian (Wyman) Graham and married Effie “Bobbie” Pease on Oct. 9, 1945. He farmed the family farm for many years before and after he served his country in the 35th Division Infantry of the US Army, stationed in Germany, England, France & Belgium, returning home in the Spring of 1944. Outside the farm he was a painter at Fisher Body, retiring in 1985. Leslie was an excellent woodworker and stonemason there was no job he couldn’t do. Surviving are his wife of 65 years; Bobbie, 2 children: Linda (Howard) Weaver of Williamston and Gary L. Graham of Webberville, 6 Grandchildren and 10 Greatgrandchildren, 3 brothers: Philip, Dale & Ralph. Kayla L. Harvey, age 21, of Fowlerville, died Mon. July 4, 2011. She was born May 2, 1990 to James Harvey Jr. & Sandra Walker. She was a 2009 graduate of Fowlerville High School. Every morning, Kayla woke with a smile, kiss and hug for all those she loved. Her heart danced to the sound of music, bright colors and the sight of blue balloons. She loved spending time with her family, friends and family pets.

Henry “Hank” Green in Brighton on July 17, 1954. He preceded her in death in 2001. She was a 1948 graduate of Howell High School and worked at the Livingston County Register of Deeds for many years, retiring 10 years ago. Howard Arthur Dorrance, age 83, of Fowlerville, died Friday, June 24, 2011 at home. He was born Dec. 20, 1927 to William Arthur “Shorty” and Amy (Johnson) Dorrance and married Waneta R. Klein on June 19, 1948, they celebrated their 63rd wedding anniversary last week. He was a member of Fowlerville First United Methodist Church, the Odd Fellows and had been a member of Fowlerville Rotary. He worked as a farmer, at Byerly’s Store, Curtis Grocery, owned Howard’s Market for 17 years, he and Waneta owned Waneta’s Diner and he retired as Manager of the Village of Fowlerville. After retirement, he worked for First National Bank for many years. Surviving are his wife: Waneta, daughter: Nanci (Calvin) Forster of Byron, 3 grandchildren: Evan Forster, Jessica Schliska and Nicole Spicer, 2 brothers: George & Bob. He was a computer specialist for the Department of Treasury and was a veteran of the US Air Force. James W. Devine, age 70, of Fowlerville, died Sat. March 5, 2011 at home surrounded by his family. He was born March 26, 1940 to Fred J. & Edna G. (Rife) Devine. Jim was a 1958 graduate of Fowlerville High School and a veteran of the US Air Force. Jim worked as a Supervisor in Quality Control at the Ford Rawsonville plant. He married Betty (Crofoot) in Fowlerville on April 27, 1968. Gertrude M. Voss, age, 97 of Fowlerville, died Friday March 4, 2011 in Fenton. She was born Jan. 13, 1914 in Detroit to Gustav & Minnie (Raetzel) Ronschke. She married Melburn C. Voss in Detroit on Sept. 14, 1940 and he preceded her in death on Sept. 10, 1996. Gertie had been a resident of Fowlerville since 1957. She loved animals and music and was an active member of St. Johns Lutheran Church (she always said that she never worked in the Church kitchen, she was the entertainment). Surviving are her daughter: Elaine (Tony) Ciak of San Jose, California and Grandchildren: Danica Ciak & Alex (Tatiana) Ciak. She was preceded in death by her son: Daniel. Charles served in the Merchant Marine during WWII and worked as a General Foreman for General Motors. Stephan Michael Bresett, age 22 of Fowlerville, Michigan died on Friday February 4, 2011. He was born on August 7, 1988 to Raymond and Gabriele (Meier) Bresett. He was a 2006 Graduate of Fowlerville High School, studying Civil engineering. Stephan loved the outdoor sports of hiking, fishing and hunting. He loved to travel to Switzerland to go hiking in the mountains with his grandfather, Max. He was a squad leader for the FHS marching band and the first one up and dancing in the bleachers during football games. He loved to play cards, hang out with his friends, lived his life to the fullest. He was extremely protective of his friends and family. .

Maurice A. Kingsley, age 83, a lifelong resident of Fowlerville, passed away peacefully at home Sunday January 23,2011. A devoted farmer all his life, he was also active in the community. For more than 30 years he served as the Supervisor of Conway Township and was recognized by then Governor Blanchard for his public service upon his retirement from his supervisor role. He was proud of being elected a democrat in a Republican county. He lived in Conway Township his entire life- on the Kingsley Farms since 1951- 60 years to this year- a mile from where he was born. Maurice was an ardent follower of baseball, especially his beloved Detroit Tigers. He graduated from Fowlerville High School in 1944 and was named a Distinguished Alumni in 1999. Ever the farmer, Maurice continued to be as active as his health allowed, going to the barn and helping in the fields and looking over his land and guiding the operation of the family farm for which he was fiercely proud. Dwight Young passed away December 16, 2010 at his home, age 61. He was born April 2, 1949 in Sault Ste. Marie to Raymond and Donna (Potter) Young. He married the love of his life, Joanne M. McShane in Bay County June 20, 1970 and she survives him. Honorable service to the Unites States Coast Guard, October of 1969 to October of 1973 where he earned Boatswain’s First Class in just four years. Dwight worked at TRW for the past nine and a half years with dedication to his work and a love for his coworkers. He was a senior member of the American Society for Quality.

Nina Rose Wenker McPartlin Miller, age 88, of Fowlerville, died at Home Away From Home AFC home on Nov. 11, 2010. She was born at Williamsfield Twp., Ohio to Fred & Edith (Bush) Wenker at 2AM July 13, 1922 in a bad storm, her grandfather Bush put her in a shoe box next to the woodstove to keep her warm. Nina was a 1940 graduate of Northville High School and a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Northville and St. Johns Lutheran Church in Fowlerville. She was an avid crotcheter and knitter, having made many beautiful afghans and Christmas ornaments. She married Arthur P. McPartlin on Sept. 20, 1942, he preceded her in death June 26, 1946. She married Victor L. Miller on June 14, 1947 in Norhville, where they lived until 1956. They moved to Pinckney and in the early ‘70s moved to Fowlerville. Victor preceded her in death on May 13, 1984. Nina is survived by her brother: Fredrick (Joyce) Wenker of Sun City, AZ, 6 nephews and 2 nieces. Clayton Bessert Damman was born in Handy Township-Fowlerville on September 19, 1914. He passed away ten days after his 96th birthday on September 29, 2010 at his home in Fresno, CA. Clayton was born and raised on the Damman family farm which is now a part of the proving grounds south of town near Sargent and Damman roads. Clayton’s father Henry was known as a well to do farmer in the area for years. Clayton recalls his early childhood before there were automobiles and roads in the Fowlerville area. His father had one of the first cars in the area.
Mark W. Driver, age 83, of Fowlerville, died at home Mon. Oct 4, 2010. He was born March 13, 1927 in Fowlerville to Lyall & Olga (Peterson) Driver. He married Josephine McIntyre Sept. 3, 1946. Mr. Driver worked for Ruelands Electric and was a hard worker who loved to farm and milk his cows. He also enjoyed playing cards and going to old tractor shows. Burrill Victor Driver , son of George and Edna Batram Driver was born on the Driver family farm in Iosco Township July 15, 1919 and past away at his home on September 11, 2010 at the age of 91. On December 16, 1944, he married Daisy Melissa Grieve and resided on the family farm his whole life. By nature very hard working and caring. He was respected by his friends and neighbors for his honesty and integrity. Burrill loved the farm life and was well known for working on and dealing with old John Deere tractors. Charles Albert Mellentine, age 87 of Fowlerville passed away on Friday, August 6, 2010. Born April 23, 1923,in Fowlerville on the old family farm to William and Matilda Mellentine. He served in the United States Army in 1943 during WWII as Artillery Observer with 220th Field Artillery Battery C. He worked as a construction Superintendent and Engineer for 40 years in the Lansing area and was a member of the Carpenters Union for 68 years. He was a member of the Owosso Eagles Club. Chuck loved his big garden and flowers, giving away produce to many friends. He loved to visit Frankenmuth and attend Polka Festivals, never missing a chance to dance. In 1994 Charles and wife Lorraine recieved a plaque for their support of Polka Music at the Michigan State Polka Music Hall of Fame, Owosso ZCBJ Hall. Preceding him in death were his parents and a Daughter: Julie. Arthur L. Buell, age 84, of Perry, died Mon. March 29, 2010. He was born Oct. 31, 1925 to Arthur L. & Merry Grace (Hoskins) Buell. He married Rosemarie (Palmer) on Sept. 15, 1945. He was a dairy farmer and truck driver. Art collected John Deere tractors, was a member of the Genesee Valley 2 cylinder club, was an avid Tigers fan and enjoyed going to Florida for the winter. Thelma Mildred Winegar, age 88, of Fowlerville, died Sun. March 21, 2010. She was born May 5, 1921 to Earl & Mildred (Dean) Sherwood and was a 1938 graduate of Fowlerville High School. After high school she was a waitress at a local restaurant and worked at Howell Electric Motors. She married Duane Winegar on June 10, 1946 and he preceded her in death on March 23, 2003. Thelma was a cook at Fowlerville Public Schools for over 20 years, retiring in 1983, a life long member of Fowlerville United Brethren in Christ Church and the Handy Sunshine Club. Hugh O. Palmerton, age 91, of Fowlerville, died Sun. March 21, 2010 at Argentine Care Center. He was born Aug. 29, 1918 in Fowlerville to Claude & Frances (Dickinson) Palmerton. He married Adeline C. Ferrante on Oct. 8, 1941 in Angola, Indiana. Hugh served in the US Army during WWII in Germany Italy, North Africa and France, worked for 29 years at Cleveland Metal & Abrasive in Howell and was a Dairy farmer, he was very proud of the nationally known herd of Jersey cattle that he and his sons developed. He also was an auctioneer and enjoyed hunting, fishing, and watching baseball (especially the Tigers). Hugh always grew a large garden. He was a 1964 graduate of Fowlerville High School and was an electrician by trade for 46 years with the International Brotherhood of Electrical workers, the last 25 years with General Motors until his retirement in July 2009. He loved sports, and was an avid fan of the Fowlerville Gladiators and Michigan State University. He was a member of the Boy Scouts during his youth. Ruth E. White, age 96, of Howell died Fri, Jan. 22, 2010. She was born April 16, 1913 on the family farm in Fowlerville to August & Mary (Hart) Ruttman. She was a 1930 graduate of Fowlerville High School and married Ernest Leslie White,on Dec. 14, 1935, he preceded her in death in 1959. Ruth was an accountant for the State of Michigan at Hillcrest and loved the cabin at Higgins Lake that she & Leslie built. She was active in St. Johns Episcopal Church, where she served on the ECW, Altar Society and Vestry, was a member of Fowlerville O.E.S.#277. Her family was very important to her. Josephine Stowe, age 87, of Webberville, died Thurs May 14, 2009 in East Tawas. She was born May 25, 1921 in Riceville, Ky to Steve & Ethel Caudill. She married Lawrence J. Stowe on Sept. 28, 1941 and he preceded her in death in 1960. Surviving are her sons: Vern (Bonnie) Stowe of National City, MI and Robert (Barb) Stowe of Hersey, MI. 10 Grandchildren, 13 Greatgrandchildren, 2 brothers: Cecil Caudill of Stockbridge and Steve Caudill of Jackson. She was preceded in death by her daughter: Nancy, Son: Gordon, Grandson: Brad, sister: Edna Marshall and 2 brothers: Junior Caudill & Ralph Caudill. Bernard L. Nygren “Barney”, age 86, of Fowlerville, died May 15, 2009. He was born April 2, 1923 to Louis & Hazel (Ferrington) Nygren. He married Pearly Cunningham on Dec 31, 1942, she preceded him in death in 1977. He was a carpenter for Nygren Brothers Construction Co. and a veteran of the US Navy, serving in WWII. He is survived by 4 grandchildren:Robert, Ryan, Raeann & Rachelle, 2 sisters: Barb Ganton & Donna Popa and 1 brother: Robert, and many nieces & nephews. Barney was preceded in death by his daughter: Sharon Wing, 2 sisters: Lois DeWaters & Dorothy Philburn and 3 brothers: William , Louis & Daniel. Services 11AM Monday at Niblack Funeral Home, Dillingham Liverance Chapel where the family will receive friends from 4 To 8 Sunday. Interment in Greenwood Cemetery. Military Honors provided by V F W Post #6464, Fowlerville. The family would like to thank Medilodge of Howell for the fine care Barney received since 2004.
Dawn M. Wheeler, age 59 of Fowlerville, died Monday May 10, 2009. She was born March 8, 1950 in Taylor to Charles & Hazel (LaPointe) Ball and married Ron Wheeler, who preceded her in death. She was part owner of Whitey’s Auto Salvage in Howell and had been active in Girl Scouts. Dawn loved spending time with her Grandchildren. Surviving are 4 childdren: Ron II, Candy (Steve) Bartrum, Robin (Steve) Cotton and Ginger (Jeremy) Cramar , 6 grandchildren: Mackenzie, Harley, Mercedes, Carter, Bailey & Dakota and her sister: Wanda Weinschenk. Visitation: 4-6 PM Thursday and 3-5 PM Friday with services 5PM Friday at Niblack Funeral Home, Dillingham Liverance Chapel.
B. Elna Love, 88, of Fowlerville, died Sat. May 9, 2009 . She was born April 2, 1921 in Handy Twp. To Clarence & Mina (King) Kleinschmidt and was a 1939 graduate of Fowlerville High School. She married Fred Love in 1940 and he preceded her in death in 2003. Elna helped Fred on the family farm and worked for Heller’s Flower Shop and was a member of Fowlerville Church of the Nazarene. Surviving are her brother: Robert (Betty) Kleinschmidt of Webberville and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband Fred and sister: Linda Garland. Services: 11AM Wed at Howell Church of the Nazarene with Pastor Gary Griffin officiating. Clarence G. Freyaldenhoven Sr., age 86, of Fowlerville, died Monday May 4, 2009 at home. He was born March 6, 1923 in Morrilton, Arkansas and married Rosa Marie Carnes on Nov. 22, 1947. He was a dairy farmer and a member of St. Agnes Catholic Church. He is survived by his wife Rosa, 2 daughters: Sheila (Robert) LeFave, Sharon Freyaldenhoven, 3 sons:Dan (Carolyn), Charles and Clarence Jr. (Kim), 12 Grandchildren and 18 Greatgrandchildren, sister: Louise Cole and half-sister: Magdeline Wells & son-in-law: Terry Donaldson. He was preceded in death by his son: James and daughter Phillis Donaldson and 6 brothers and sisters. Mass of the Christian Burial 11AM Thurs.. at St. Agnes Catholic Church with Fr. James W. Hill “Wayne”, 65, of Swartz Creek, died Tues. April 28, 2009. He was born April 12, 1944. He was a 1962 graduate of Fowlerville High School, served in the US Army and worked for Pepsi Cola as a warehouse manager. Wayne loved to fish. He married Sharon K. Spare on Aug. 25, 1962. Surviving are his wife Sharon, Son: James Jr., Grandchildren: Nathan & Renee and greatgranddaughter: Julia and brother: Edwin Hill of Flint.
